TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language is a standardized English proficiency test that assesses English Language skills in the areas of Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Candidates desirous of pursuing further studies at undergraduate or graduate levels are required to take TOEFL to demonstrate their English proficiency. This test is offered 30-40 times a year, and is accepted by all Institutions in the USA as well as by some Institutions in UK and Canada.

TOEFL Internet-Based Test (or TOEFL iBT)

  • Can be taken at a TOEFL center or at home.
  • The test is offered more than 170 times a year.
  • The at-home version of the test is available 24 hours a day, 4 days a week.
  • It is accepted worldwide by 11,500+ universities in 160+ countries.

TOEFL Essentials

  • It takes about 90 minutes to complete the test.
  • The reading and listening passages on the Essentials Test are shorter and revolve around English in daily life.
  • The test is accepted in over 500 institutions worldwide.

TOEFL Scoring

  • Each of the four sections of the test is scored on a scale of 0 to 30 points.
  • You will also get an overall score of 0-120 based on the individual scores.
  • For every right answer, you score a point and there is no negative marking for wrong answers.
  • Your TOEFL score is valid for two years from the date of publication of the result.
  • You are allowed to send your score up to 4 universities free of charge.
